Board of Directors

Governance

The Blount Memorial Hospital board of directors is comprised of nine members elected for three-year renewable terms. Four directors are appointed by the Blount County Commission, two by the City of Maryville, two by the city of Alcoa and one by the board of trustees of Maryville College.

Board members as of January 2010:

Robert Redwine is president of the board of directors. Redwine is retired from the Tennessee Operations of the Aluminum Company of America. He currently is a senior electrical engineer for Spectra Tech Inc. in Oak Ridge. He has served on the board since January 1987 and is appointed by the Blount County Commission. Dr. Ted Flickinger is vice president of the board of directors. Flickinger is a urologist and a member of the hospital's honorary medical staff. He has served on the board since January 1998 and is appointed by Maryville College.
David Cockrill is an architect and planner, and president of Cockrill Design & Planning. He has served on the board since June 2008 and is appointed by the City of Maryville. Jim Fiegle is comptroller of the Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union. He has served on the board since January 1990 and was appointed by the City of Alcoa; and reappointed in January 1994 by the Blount County Commission.
Francis Gross, Ed.D. is retired from the University of Tennessee where he was associate vice president for management services. He has served on the board since May 2000 and is appointed by the City of Alcoa. Susan Hitch Keller is a self-employed farmer (Kelmont Farms Inc.) and homemaker. She has served on the board since January 1995 and is appointed by the Blount County Commission
Denny Mayes is an agency manager at Ellis Avenue Farm Bureau Insurance. He bagan serving on the board in January 2010 and is appointed by the City of Alcoa.

David Pesterfield is president of Pharmacy Plus Programs, LLC. He was appointed to the board in January 2008, and he serves as a representative of the City of Maryville.

Clarence Williams is retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority where he was director of equal opportunity compliance. He joined the board in January 2007 and is appointed by the Blount County Commission.
