On-site Personal Care Clinics:
East Tennessee employers who partner with Blount Memorial Business Health can choose to establish an on-site personal care clinic at their facilities. The clinic, which is staffed by a nurse practitioner, offers employees immediate access to treatment for acute illness and injury. Employers also can opt to extend this benefit to employees’ dependents.
Conditions treated at the clinic do not have to be work-related. For example, employees and/or dependents could receive treatment for symptoms related to colds, flu, sore throats or stomach viruses. Receiving early, expert care can help reduce the duration and severity of symptoms, helping reduce absenteeism.
On-site nurse practitioners also can partner with an employee’s primary physicians to help effectively manage chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma. This eliminates the need for multiple physician visits (lowering health care costs), and offers on-the-job support for employees who are trying to lose weight, reduce stress or lower their blood sugar.
The clinics also offer a prescription medication service featuring commonly dispensed medications and antibiotics.
On-Site Rehabilitation Services:
East Tennessee companies with a Blount Memorial Business Health on-site personal care clinic can opt to offer on-site rehabilitation services to their employees. An expert Blount Memorial physical therapist works part-time in the clinic providing initial assessments and limited physical therapy services.
If more extensive physical therapy treatment is required, the on-site therapist will refer the employee to an outpatient facility. In addition to treatment, the physical therapist can conduct a wide variety of on-site rehabilitation screenings including:
- pre-placement physicals
- functional capacity screenings
- cumulative trauma screenings
- functional capacity evaluation for return-to-work physicals
Having a physical therapist on-site helps limit lost work days, prevent work-related injuries and reduce worker compensation claims.
